Deborah Sevett's paintings speak to the contrast of life. In exploring this contrast, she exposes darkness and light, uncertainty and clarity. From exposing her mundane daily dealings, there is stark emotional honesty. "Dreams and spirituality speak through the doorways of the subconscious." This is an exercise that she finds essential to her art, to which she regularly returns. Expressionism is a style that feels natural to her: it may adjust to each image within its figurative and architectural aspects. There are recurring symbols and themes throughout her work. Each painting is its own many-layered conversation.
Deborah was born in the Midwest. She studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris FR, Washington University, St. Louis MO, and The University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS.
